GMCH-32: CAT adjourns case,hearing on Sept 20

The case pertains to the petition filed by five faculty members of the GMCH-32 seeking a level playing field for the contest for selection of the next director-principal

The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) on Thursday adjourned the hearing in the case pertaining to the petition filed by five faculty members of the GMCH-32 seeking a level playing field for the contest for selection of the next director-principal.

The case will now come up for the resumed hearing on September 20 as both the UT Administration and the UPSC which are among the respondents sought time to file their replies.

Interestingly,the only reply which was filed on Thursday was that of the five other doctors whose names have been forwarded to the UPSC and are the respondents in this petition.

In their reply,they alleged that the present petition was filed at the instance of the present director-principal who is gaining from the present scenario.

In fact,the petition of Dr S K Singh,the sole eligible candidate for the said post,was also clubbed with the present petition owing to the same issue and its respondents.

The petition that came up for hearing was filed by Dr A K Attri,Dr Atul Sachdeva,Dr S K Garg,Dr Ram Singh and Dr Anju Huria on August 13 in the tribunal seeking clarity on the eligibility criteria for the coveted post.

The second petition has been filed by Dr S K Singh,PGI urologist who was the first one to approach the tribunal,and had got relief from CAT when orders were passed in his favour to the UPSC to consider him as the candidate.

However,during the last hearing,on the directions of CAT,the UPSC postponed the interview which was to be held on August 30 for the coveted post.

No date has been specified by the UPSC as to when the interview will take place now.
