Garima Goyal of Bhawan Vidyalaya,Sector 27 and Kamaljit Singh of Patiala emerged winners in the women’s and men’s singles finals,respectively in the Prof RS Mehta Memorial Open Table Tennis Tournament at the Sector 23 Table Tennis Hall on Sunday.

Garima overcome a stiff resistance from Nadia Saini of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women,Sector 26,by 8-11,9-11,12-10,11-8,13-11,11-9 in the well-fought women’s singles final.

Kamaljit Singh of Patiala converted his early deficit into profit as he defeated Saurabh of Rohtak by 12-14,11-3,9-11,12-10,11-8,11-9 in the men’s singles final.

Nadia Saini of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women,Sector 26 won the youth girls’ crown at the expense of Nirdosh of Ludhiana whom she beat by 14-12,13-11,11-8,12-10.

Nadia defeated Tanveen (Amritsar) by 11-6,11-5,11-8,11-7 while Nirdosh struggled in the initial stages but managed to beat Kalyan of Sacred Heart of Sector 26 by 8-11,8-11,11-6,11-6,11-8,7-11,11-7 in the semi-final matches.

Saurabh Verma of New Public School,Sector 18 bagged the junior boys’ title by beating Nonit of Amritsar by 11-9,7-11,11-6,11-5,13-15,11-5.
