Another video call of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, lodged in a Gujarat jail, went viral on social media on Tuesday. Bishnoi, the alleged mastermind in singer Sidhu Moosewala’s murder and the firing at actor Salman Khan’s Mumbai home, is purportedly talking to Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti about Eid in the 19-second video.

Shahzad is heard telling Bishnoi that Eid had already been celebrated in the UAE and other countries “today” and “falls in Pakistani tomorrow”.

Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former Punjab minister Bikram Singh Majithia has reacted sharply to the video.

“Recently, Bishnoi wished Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti on Eid from Gujarat Jail, demonstrating his ability to operate freely behind bars,” he wrote on X. “Earlier, notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi murdered Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala…Despite giving a live interview from Punjab Jail, Punjab’s CM and Home Minister Bhagwant Mann formed an SIT to investigate, but the probe shows ZERO RESULTS. His gang continues to threaten Salman Khan, with multiple attacks on Khan’s residence. Such activities pose significant risks to public safety when gangsters can act without restraint even while incarcerated.”

Bishnoi is alleged to be involved in several high-profile murder and extortion cases.

Punjab Police registered two FIRs after Bishnoi allegedly gave two back-to-back interviews to a news channel while in jail in March 2023. In March this year, the Government told the Punjab and Haryana High Court that it would take three more months to complete the investigations in the two cases.

In December 2023, the Government informed the court that “it is highly improbable that the interview of the suspect (Lawrence Bishnoi) had been conducted in any of the jails in the State of Punjab or within the State of Punjab when he was in police custody”.
