Gabria hits back at Bains, seeks party intervention

The feud between state Cabinet Minister Hira Singh Gabria and Youth Akali Dal president Simarjeet Singh Bains worsened on Tuesday after the minister wrote to the SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal seeking action against Bains.

The feud between state Cabinet Minister Hira Singh Gabria and Youth Akali Dal president(YAD) Simarjeet Singh Bains worsened on Tuesday after the minister wrote to the SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal seeking action against Bains.

“The disciplinary committee of the party must also be watching everything and I am sure that due action will be taken by them. Even a house needs discipline to run and after all it is a political party, and if anyone continues to be ‘indisciplined’ due action needs to be taken against them,” Gabria said.

On allegations of corruption levelled against him by Bains, the minister said: “ By merely speaking about corruption is not enough. Let Bains prove even a single rupee corruption done by me in politics. I earned money in my business with my hard work and everyone can do the same. My petrol pump is existing in the city for more than 8 years when I was not even an MLA”.

He added: “ I have never supported any opponent candidate in the SGPC elections and there is no proof of the same as well. I am a loyal to the party for the past 51 years and why will I support the rival candidate. These are only baseless allegations which have no facts and figures. I am sure due action will be taken by the party president soon”.

He,however, added: “ I have not earned even a penny out of politics, but yes,I never spend money from my pocket to contest elections. My well wishers spend on my campaign and I contest elections and I have no fear in admitting the same”.
