Forwards’ fine display guides Round Glass Hockey Academy to 3-1 win over SAI NCOE

A fine display by their forwards guided Round Glass Hockey Academy to a 3-1 win over Sports Authority of India National Centre of Excellence (SAI NCOE), Sonipat, and to the top of the points table with 11 points in the Punjab Hockey League being organised by Hockey Punjab and Round Glass Sports at Olympian Balbir Singh International Stadium on Thursday.

The match started on an attacking note as Gursewak Singh scored the opening goal through a field goal in the first minute of the match for Round Glass Hockey Academy. Amandeep Singh extended the lead for Round Glass Hockey Academy in the 27th minute as he successfully converted a penalty corner to put the team ahead by 2-0. Six minutes later, Joganpreet Singh scored the third goal through a field goal for Round Glass Hockey Academy to extend the lead to 3-0. Navraj Singh successfully converted a penalty corner in the 57th minute of the match for Sports Authority of India National Centre of Excellence with the match ending with Round Glass Hockey Academy scoring a 3-1 win.

In another match of the day, PIS Surjit Hockey Academy scored a 4-1 win over SDAT Hockey Academy, Tamil Nadu. For the winning team, Harmolbir Singh, Ajaypal Singh, Manmeet Singh Rai and Charanjeet Singh scored one goal each. For the losing side, M Sugumar scored the solitary goal. It was a winning day for Naval Tata Hockey Academy, Jamshedpur, too as the team scored a 3-1 win over Ghumanhera Risers Hockey Academy, New Delhi. Sabian Kiro was the star of the day for the winning team as he scored a hat-trick. For the losing side, Prikshit scored the solitary goal.

In another match of the day, Namdhari Hockey Academy scored a 2-1 (1-1) win via penalty shootout against SGPC Hockey Academy, Amritsar.
