SUKHMANPREET SINGH Sidhu alias Sippy Sidhu had a threat perception to his life and he had conveyed it to the local police in August. Although Sippy did not give any written application, he met the officials of Mataur police station and requested them to keep a watch on the activities of some suspicious persons who used to roam outside his house in Phase 3B2.
An official of the Mataur police station told Chandigarh Newsline Sidhu came to the police station, met senior police officers and informed them about the movement of some suspicious people outside his house.

“Soon after meeting the police officers, he left for Vancouver for a meeting of the Para-Olympics. He returned on September 18,” said a Mataur police official. “We heard about his murder around 5 on Monday morning.”
According to police officials, Sippy told them that a white Maruti car was following him. After this, the police sent some cops in plain clothes and also analysed CCTV footage of the cameras installed at Sippy’s house but they did not find anything suspicious.
“First, he told us that a white Maruti car was following him, then he said some strangers used to roam outside his house. We checked everything but did not find anything,” added the official.
Uploaded his pictures of prize distribution function
According to the police, Sippy was on WhatsApp till 7.30 pm on Sunday. He was using an I-Phone which was protected by a thumb lock. Sippy also uploaded his pictures of a prize distribution function which was held in Vancouver, Canada, on September 10. A senior police officer of Chandigarh Police said that they were suspecting the property dispute could be behind the murder.
