Among the latest in that list is Romila Dubey who,the government has decided,will be appointed as the chairman of Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission,sources said. Dubey is due to retire on April 30 as Financial Commissioner,Revenue,but has applied for voluntary retirement,seeking that the three-month notice period be waived. She is likely to be relieved on January 31,sources said.
Her husband A K Dubey,too is a former IAS officer; after retirement,he has been heading the Punjab State Election Commission. The official Romila Dubey will replace,Jai Singh Gill,is a former Chief Secretary; so was R S Mann,whom Gill succeeded as PSERC chairman.
Other retired IAS officers getting fresh jobs include B C Thakur who will be Information Commissioner,along with journalist Chander Parkash,the two posts falling vacant on the completion of the terms of Rupan Deol Bajaj (also a former IAS officer) and Lt Gen HS Grover (retired).
The government had already appointed former Chief Secretary R I Singh of the 1974 batch as Chief Information Commissioner. Former CIC Rajan Kashyap too had been a retired Chief Secretary.
IAS officer Tejinder Kaur of the 1973 batch was appointed chairman of the Punjab Infrastructure Regulatory Authority,S P Singh who retired as Secretary (Food and Supplies Punjab) was appointed Chairman of Pungrain and IAS officer Asha Attri was appointed member of the Educational Tribunal.
Former Punjab Director General (Prisons) M P S Aulakh has been appointed chairman of the Prisons Reforms Commission.
Sources said R P S Pawar,Kulbir Singh and Iqbal Singh,all IAS officers who retired some time back,too might be rehabilitated somewhere or the other. Pawar might be appointed as chairman of the Punjab State Scheduled Caste Commission after incumbent Naranjan Singh completes his tenure,they said. Singh too is a retired IAS officer.
DS Jaspal,a 1976 batch officer posted as Principal Secretary (Printing and Stationary) and who retires on December 31,might be rehabilitated after retirement as CEO of Parsar Bharti. S S Rajput,Secretary (Local Bodies) and due to retire on October 31,is tipped for rehabilitation as member of Punjab Public Service Commission. S S Brar of the 1977 batch,now Finance Commissioner (Excise and Taxation),retiring next year,might be appointed as Chairman of the Punjab Public Service Commission,after present chairman S K Sinha (again a former senior IAS officer) completes his term,sources said.
Sources said a few members of the Punjab State Hunan Rights Commission too have retired or will retire soon,and some officers and other prominent people might be adjusted as members.
