It was their first ever alumni meet,and boy were the former students of Dasmesh Public School,Faridkot,Punjab excited to meet each other! At a fuction held in Kalagram,it was nostalgia and emotions at its peak. Everyone was sharing memories and remembering lost years,trying to recognise and recall old pals,and refresh the good old alma mater days. This is not just any other get together,rather,we wish to make it eventful and purposeful,as has been our stint at the school, said Iqbal Singh,convener of the Alumni Meet,and also Assistant Superintendent of Jails,Punjab Prisons,Government of Punjab. In fact,they have made an Orkut profile to get in touch with old friends at the school. The Orkut communitys called Old Dasmeshians Association, adds Singh. Our association is involved in social causes and is planning to set up an NGO for the same, he added.

Did you know that the Ministry of Tourism,Government of India and the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology have been recognizing excellence in the hospitality sector by awarding All-India top position holders for their academic performance? This year a student,Navjyoti,of Chandigarh Institute of Hotel Management (CIHM) was awarded National Councils Gold Medal,certificate of excellence and cash award of Rs 5000 for securing All India first position in house keeping operation for the year 2007-08. Whats more the Chandigarh Institute of Hotel Management has also bagged the national Best Administrative Performance award for excellence in hospitality education. The institutes principal,T K Razdan received the trophy at a scintillating award ceremony function held at IHM,Pusa,New Delhi on the evening of March 25. The National award was presented by Sujit Banerjee,IAS,Secretary,Ministry of Tourism,Govt. of India,New Delhi. Also present on the occasion were Sanjay Kothari,IAS,Additional Secretary,Devesh Chaturvedi,IAS,ADG and the Director (A&F) and Directors of National Council for Hotel Management.
Fest-o-fun
It was a day dedicated to glitz and glamour as a theme-based fashion show rolled out as part of Spraddha 09,the management fest organised by Dr IT Group of Institutes. Revolving around the theme of encouraging creativity and innovation,the show saw a display of talent,style,fashion and skills. Inaugurated by Nishtha Jaswal,Dean Student Welfare,Panjab University,the management fest saw many other institutes participate in the daylong fest. Gagan Gulati from Dr IT Institute of Management and Deetika from Chanakya bagged Mr Spradha and Miss Spraddha titles while students Nitin Sharma and Silki walked away with Best Male Model and Best Female Model titles respectively. The fest also saw dance performances,a laughter/parody show called Indian Idle being held. Speaking on the occasion Deepti Batra,CEO,Dr IT Group of Institutes said that an inter-institute fest like not only helps students and institutes come closer but offers a chance to showcase talent on a broader forum.
