Fortis Hospital observed National Cancer Survivor Day by inviting cancer survivors at a special Saarthak Meet,a cancer support initiative by Fortis. Dr Rajiv Bedi,Consultant,Oncology,Fortis Hospital Mohali,Dr NM Gupta,Director,General surgery,Fortis Hospital Mohali,Dr Jai Dev Wig,Director,General Surgery,Fortis Hospital Mohali were present at the event to share with their former patients the latest advances in the field of cancer surgery. The program started with a talk by Dr NM Gupta,where he highlighted the advancements in the field of cancer surgery which work towards the benefit of patients and benefits of meditation in healing cancer. Highlighting the advantage of positive thinking,he said,“At Fortis,we believe in adding life to years and not years to life.” Dr Rajeev Bedi made a detailed presentation on cancer,its types and latest treatments. “We have target treatments where we can identify cancer cells and focus medication only on cells which are cancerous,” adds Dr Bedi. Kamlesh Sekhon,one of the cancer survivors,shared that how important it is to be positive,“I have been battling cancer since the last 16 years and ncer and seeing my condition,my son decided to become a medical oncologist.”
