Fog grips city again; air, train traffic hit

Air passengers were harassed as none of the flights could operate due to low visibility.

“Due to it being the third Sunday of the month, the flights were allowed to operate before 1 pm only. Since visibility remained low till then, none of the six flights could operate today,” said a local airport manager.

New Delhi-Una Jan Shatabdi was delayed by over one hour, Lucknow-Chandigarh Superfast Express reached the city four-and-half-hours late, and Sai Nagar Shirdi train to Kalka was late by more than seven hours.

Kalka-Howarh Mail was late by over 16 hours and reached the local station at 7.33 pm.

Local met department said that fog was expected to prevail in the evening and morning hours for the next couple of days. Surinder Pal, Director, regional meteorological department, said that the rain could be expected on 22-23 January due to western disturbance.

On Sunday,the maximum temperature during the day was just one degree Celsius below normal.
