The men have been identified as KR Chand Khan and his son Honey, both residents of Phase 9.

In an embarrassment to the Mohali police, a father-son duo arrested for thrashing their neighbour around two weeks ago, managed to give the police a slip after they were arrested on Wednesday morning, according to sources. The police arrested five members of the accused family, including three women, in connection with the case.

The men have been identified as KR Chand Khan and his son Honey, both residents of Phase 9. They were booked by the police on July 6 along with Khan’s wife Dulari, and their daughters Ritu, Ishu and Monu. A case of thrashing and rioting was registered against them on the complaint of Rajesh Verma, their neighbour, who said that he works in a private firm.

Verma said that he had asked his brother to remove some flower pots from outside his house so that he could park his car. While the pots were being removed, Dulari, who had placed the pots, arrived and started abusing them. When they objected, Dulari called the other accused who thrashed the brothers.

Verma received severe head injuries and was admitted to a private hospital. On Wednesday, as soon as Khan and Honey got off the vehicle near Phase 8 police station, they managed to give the police a slip and could not be located again.  However, the police denied it. Investigating Officer Rakesh Kumar said that only the women have been arrested.
