‘Ensure special buses for schoolchildren’

Appreciating the “revolutionary” decision taken by the Chandigarh Administration to launch special government school buses at highly subsidised fares,the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday urged the Administration to ensure that the facility remains available to students in the future. The Administration has also been asked to furnish details of the number of buses that have been launched till now and the number of students,who have availed of the facility so far. The Court has also sought information on the steps that the Administration intends to take in the future to ensure the safety of school children. The directions were passed during the resumed hearing of a petition regarding implementation of traffic guidelines on Friday.
