Elderly man collapses at PU, declared dead at GMSH-16
PU chief security officer Vikram Singh said, “The man had no links with the campus and was immediately taken to the hospital.”

An elderly man collapsed on the main sports ground at Panjab University around 6:45 pm Wednesday.
PU chief security officer Vikram Singh said, “The man had no links with the campus and was immediately taken to the hospital.”
Eyewitness Mayank Narang, a student, said, “We were on the chemistry canteen road when we saw a university security Gypsy speeding toward the admin block. Someone said a man had suffered a heart attack, so we followed. Near the admin block, the Gypsy doors were opened, and a boy was trying to give cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). We rubbed his feet and wrists until the ambulance arrived. We took him to GMSH-16, where he was declared dead.”
What makes the case unusual is the conflicting details surrounding the man’s identity. Two Aadhaar cards were reportedly found with him — one in the name of Rohtash, born January 1, 1965, and another in the name of Gopal, with a different birth year in the 1970s. A PGIMER slip, issued under the name Rohtash for a dental check-up, mentioned his age as 68, while the tag placed by hospital staff at GMSH identified him as an “unknown, 70-year-old”.
No one on campus recognised the man, and university officials confirmed he was not affiliated with PU. Sources said he may have been undergoing treatment at PGIMER and possibly came to the campus for an evening walk.
Inspector Jaiveer Rana, SHO of Sector 11 police station, said: “Prima facie, we have not found any foul play in the death as of now. No FIR has been registered.”
