Display of eatery owners’ ID: Vikramaditya Singh meets Kharge, assures ‘no compromise in core principles of Congress’
This comes at a time when the CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led state government has already distanced itself from the statement made by its own Cabinet minister, maintaining that there is no official directive mandating food stall owners to display nameplates.

Days after he triggered a controversy with his statement that it had been decided every eatery and food stall in Himachal Pradesh will have to display the owner’s ID card, PWD and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi on Sunday.
Separately, Vikramaditya Singh also met Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal and Himachal Congress co-incharge Rajeev Shukla in an attempt to clarify his stance on the comments.
“During the meeting with Kharge, Vikramaditya Singh emphasized the importance of advancing the party’s activities and strengthening the state’s internal security. He stated that strengthening the party and working towards the state’s development are his top priorities, which will be pursued with full commitment,” sources said.

They added: “Additionally, Vikramaditya Singh assured that the government will operate in accordance with the party’s core principles and is determined to take the state forward on the path of development.”
Speaking to The Indian Express, Singh said, “I raised sensitive issues pertaining to the internal security of Himachal Pradesh with Kharge ji. He listened to me patiently. I assured him that all Congress workers are dedicated soldiers of the party. There will be no compromise on the core principles of the Congress.”
Sources indicated that Vikramaditya Singh met Kharge alone, and Himachal Congress President Pratibha Singh was not present at the meeting.
