After testing positive for swine flu earlier, the samples of the 19-year-old patient, admitted in the Sector-16 Government Hospital on June 22,have now tested negative, said doctors, adding that the patient is now recovering.

The patient had tested positive soon after returning from the USA. In accordance with the Centre’s guidelines that necessitate a flu patient to be in hospital for a week, doctors maintain they would discharge him only after four days.

The samples of another patient admitted in the same hospital after returning from Thailand have also tested negative for the H1N1 virus.

A 33-year-old doctor from Yamuna Nagar, meanwhile, was admitted in GMCH-32,after he showed flu-like symptoms. The samples of the patient, who had recently returned from Hyderabad, have been sent for tests and the report is expected to come on Saturday.
