Gardeners look forward to winter,as there is a wide range of winter annuals and various types of bulbous plants that grow successfully during this season. One plant that stands out, however,is lilium (in the picture). Available in a wide range of hues, from deep red to white, yellow, crimson, violet, pink and also with spots, this grows well in areas that receive sunlight for a short duration. The flowers are borne in bunches at the plant terminal and the plant needs some staking. The best time to plant lilium is October. I had sown radish a few days back. It rained two days later. What should I do to enhance its production? My fenugreek plant is also doing fine. Simran,Panchkula After every cutting, scatter urea. Do a little hoeing and give water. There is tremendous fall in the number of fruits on my kinnow tree. There is yellowing of the area near the fruit attachment and the rest of the fruit is deep green. What could be the reason? How can I check the drop in the number of fruits? Swati,Panchkula The drop in the number of kinnow fruits, with the said symptoms,is due to pathological reasons. It is,however, too late to check the menace at this time. The spraying with bavistin, dissolved at one gram to a liter of water, has to begin three to four months after the fruits appear and has to be done on monthly basis.
