Senior BJP leader,Harmohan Dhawan today said that the police action at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi, where yoga guru Ramdev was holding a camp, reminded him of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. He said that the treatment meted out to the people present there was condemnable.
Dhawan said that people all over the country are against the actions of the Congress led UPA government. He asked whether the Congress leaders, especially General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, were proud of what happened at the Ramlila Maidan.
Dhawan said that the Congress sent four ministers to receive Ramdev at the airport and later called him a thug. While the Congress justified the action at the Ramlila Maidan, the two Union Ministers Pawan Bansal and Kapil Sibal who have roots in the city should apologise to the residents as their sentiments have been hurt, he said.
He said until Bansal apologises the party workers would welcome him with black flags wherever he goes. Dhawan further criticised the move of the UT Administration to impose Section 144 at the slightest provocation.
He said on Sunday, police arrested BJP workers who were protesting peacefully because the administration had imposed Section 144 before the protest.
Dhawan also said the reaction of Congress leader Digvijay Singh towards Sushma Swarajs dance on a patriotic song was uncalled for.
