The CBI counsel on Tuesday cross examined the key witness who had turned hostile last week in the Dera member Ranjit Singh’s murder case.

Khatta Singh,a witness in the Dera member Ranjit Singh murder case, had told a CBI court in Panchkula on February 11,that the Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim had not ordered anyone’s killing and had no role in the murder of Ranjit Singh in July 2002.

“Khatta Singh told the CBI court on Tuesday that he was forced by a DIG rank officer, who was investigating the case to confess that the Dera chief had ordered the killing of Ranjit Singh in his presence. We asked him as to why he did not register any complaint against the DIG,to which he had no reply,” the CBI special prosecutor in the case,H P S Verma said.

Khatta, however, maintained in court that he was threatened by police officers to blame the Dera chief for the murder.
