A day after the Chandigarh Police booked two advocates for their alleged misconduct inside the court complex, the district Court of Chandigarh on Thursday sent one of the accused to one-day police remand.
The accused, Simranjeet Singh Blassi, was produced before the court, where police submitted that for the recovery of the weapon, remand was required.
The court on plea of police granted one-day remand of Blassi. Another accused, Ravneet Kaur, is yet to be arrested, DSP (Chandigarh Police) Uday Pal said.
The FIR has been registered on complaint of a woman advocate, Palak Dev, practising at the Punjab and Haryana High Court, who has alleged that Kaur and Blassi misbehaved with her.
The complainant alleged that the accused used abusive language, threatened them with dire consequences, and also manhandled her colleague, causing injury to his finger. The incident reportedly created a ruckus in the high court premises, attracting the attention of several advocates, bar members, and court staff.
Police said that following the complaint, a case was registered at the police station in Sector 3, Chandigarh under Sections 115(2), 126(2), 109(1), and 351 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Statements of eyewitnesses and CCTV footage from the court complex will also be examined, a police official said.
