Playing to their reputation,DAV School Sector 15,registered a thumping win over Chandigarh Club by 14-7 in the men’s section on the first day of the 38th Senior State Kho-Kho Championship for men and women held at St. Soldier’s International School,Sector 28,Chandigarh,on Saturday. In other matches of the same category,St. Soldier International School-28 ended the challenge of DAV Club-8 by 15-5,while SD College Club-32 defeated Baptist Club 45 by 18-19 in a close encounter. In the women’s section,St. Soldiers International School-28 beta GMSS-35 by 16-8,while Govt. Girls School-23 registered win over Unified Club by 12-4 in one-sided affairs.

Priya,Karanbir corner glory
PATIALA: Priya and Karanbir Pali,both of DMW,claimed titles during the Patiala District Table Tennis Ranking tournament organised by Patiala District Table Tennis Patiala at the Raja Bhalindra Singh Stadium,Punjabi University,in Patiala on Saturday. In the girls cadet final,Priya (DMW) overpowered Akansha (DMW) 11-9,11-8 in straight sets. Akansha gave her tough competition but Priya prevailed over her opponent. On her route to glory,Priya (DMW) outplayed Tarannum (MKT) 11-5,11-6 in the first semi-final,while Akanksha (DMW) routed Sukhman (Ryan) 11-8,11-9.

In the boys section,Karanbir Pali (DMW) ousted Depanshu (DMW) 11-8,11-7 in the final to clinch the title. Earlier,in the semi-finals,Karanbir Pali (DMW) defeated Atul (DMW) 10-12,11-5,11-5,while Deepanshu beat Barbrik (NIS) 11-7,11-4 to reach the final.
