Cricket enthusiasts had to cook up excuses to bunk office or college to watch the monster of all matches yesterday. However,some institutions made it easier. Chitkara Institute of Mass Communication,Chandigarh,declared Wednesday a holiday. We wanted students to enjoy the day, said a faculty member Kawaljeet Dhillon. Panjab University declared a half day off as well. The match is watched across the globe and if we have the privilege of watching from the stands in Chandigarh,then companies have to cooperate, said Kiran Joshi of Chandigarh-based Blue Lotus Communication,that also declared a half-day holiday. For the first half of the day,when we were working,we wore blue and played online cricket games, she said. The other corporates that announced a half day were International Institute of Fashion Design and Vodafone. At Lovely Professional University (picture),screens were put up in the campus and it was a half day off. At Comviva,Gurgaon,the management arranged for match viewing in office.
