Coolex 2012: Firms focus on green energy

Green energy and power saving is the mantra of leading companies showcasing new products and technologies at Coolex 2012.

Green energy and power saving is the mantra of leading companies showcasing new products and technologies at Coolex 2012,Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) four-day exhibition on air conditioning and refrigeration which opened at Himachal Bhawan today.

Almost all the mega electronics goods firms which have displayed their products at the expo proudly displayed certification that these had been made with environment-friendly energy processes. The other major selling point for the air-conditioners,refrigerators and coolers displayed at the exhibition was that these were highly “energy efficient”,with increased ability to save power.

UT Finance Secretary V K Singh inaugurated the expo which showcases products by 22 companies over 1,100 sq metre area at the venue. This is the 15th edition of the event, and will make its debut in Lucknow,Jammu and Faridabad this year, said Pikender Pal Singh,Regional Director,CII Northern Region.

From the various exhibits at the expo,it was clear that electronic goods companies are now focusing not just on technology but on packaging too. A leading domestic company, which had earlier come out with a wide range of designer refrigerators in diverse colours and patterns, today displayed a wide range of designer five-star air-conditioners at the expo.

Multi-national corporations dealing in electronics goods, which have entered the Indian market in the last couple of years, aggressively marketed their product range at the expo. Another selling point for the ACs were the highly upgraded air-filters,and the ability to operate the air-conditioner from one’s mobile phone

The growing popularity of split ACs vis-a-vis window ACs was visible at the exhibition. Split ACs cornered large space, with relatively fewer models for window ACs. To cater to the old market of window ACs,a domestic company introduced an air conditioner in this category with five-star rating.

Fans of various makes and designs are the new segment at the expo.
