Accusing the BJP of double standards, former Congress minister and MLA,G S Bali,on Monday asked the party leadership to take a clear stand on the SGPC setting up the Bluestar memorial at the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

Speaking to mediapersons a day before his Rozgar Sangharsh Yatra moves to Chamba,Bali said: “The SGPC is almost controlled by SAD(B) — a coalition partner of the BJP in Punjab. On June 6,it had laid the foundation for the memorial in the presence of the Sikh priests of the five Takhts. The SGPC also honoured Balwant Singh Rajoana, the assassin of former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh, with the title of Zinda Shaheed.”

“Everybody knows that SGPC cannot take any decision without taking SAD into confidence, because the party enjoys absolute majority there,” he added.

While speaking about the prevailing unemployment in the state,Bali asked the state BJP leadership to tell the people how serious it was in tackling the problem. “BJP workers showing black flags during the yatra shows the attitude of the the party towards tackling the problem of unemeployment, which is now touching the figure of 10 lakh,” he added.

Bali’s yatra, which started from Manali on June 8,has covered the Kangra,Kullu and Mandi districts and will end in Chamba. “I have got tremendous response from all, particularly the youth. We are receiving feedback forms in large numbers,so that a policy can be made to counter unemployment,” he added.
