Class XII student commits suicide

Depressed over her failure to clear the Class XII exam,a resident of Sector 45 allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her residence on Friday.

Depressed over her failure to clear the Class XII exam,a resident of Sector 45 allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her residence on Friday. Navdeep Kaur,who was studying as a private student and had opted for the medical stream,failed to clear the the exam in her second attempt,said the police.

Her father runs a meat shop in Sector 32. No suicide note was recovered from the spot. Her body was first spotted by a domestic help at 4 pm. He also saw her one-and-a-half-year-old brother playing on the floor and informed the police.

The victim had lost her mother in an accident seven months ago. Her father was admitted to the PGI after both his kidneys failed. The police said he later remarried. “She was upset. Problems in her family and her father’s ailment could also have triggered the suicide,” said Inspector Udey Pal Singh,SHO,Sector 34. Inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC have been initiated. ens
