Man abducted,sexually abused
Chandigarh: A 25-year-old man was allegedly picked up from his residence and sexually harassed by a group of persons on the citys outskirts on Wednesday,the police said. They have identified some of the accused as Rakesh Verma,Harbans and Manimajra. The accused,known to the victim,have been booked under Sections of the IPC.
High nicotine level in seized e-cigarettes
Panchkula: Investigations into the recovery of electronic cigarettes by the Drug Control Authorities here have revealed that they contained a very high level of nicotine. The level of nicotine in some of the cigarettes was as high as that found in 20-30 cigarettes. The Drug Control department had laid a trap for the seizure based on specific information,sources said. They have booked one Gaurav Sharma,from whose possession the cigarettes were recovered,in the case.
Dadu Majra man killed in accident
Chandigarh: A resident of Dadu Majra met with an accident while he was on his way to drop off his daughter to school and succumbed to his injuries at the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital here. His 4-year old daughter was referred to Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research and is in a critical condition. The victim,Anil,was on a motorcycle with his daughter when it was hit by a bus near the signal at Sector 38-39,onlookers said. The police has registered a case against the driver of the bus,who fled the accident spot.
PGIMER to observe glaucoma week
Chandigarh: PGIMERs Advanced Eye Centre is going to observe March 10-16 as World Glaucoma Week to raise awareness about the medical condition,a leading cause of blindness. PGIMERs department of Opthalmology will also create a network of doctors in the region by providing them training on how to tackle glaucoma patients.
