Chandigarh: Three persons were arrested in separate cases of theft on Monday. In the first,a resident of Colony No. 5 alleged that an his cycle was stolen from near his house on Saturday night. In the second,a resident of Sector 26 reported theft of his three-wheeler on Saturday. In the third case,a resident of Sector 45 alleged that his motorcycle was stolen from Sector 46 on September 4. A case each of theft has been registered at

Sector 34 police station.

Three minors held for ‘robbery’

Chandigarh: Three minors were caught by the Chandigarh Police on Sunday for allegedly robbing a person of his cycle and his valuables. According to the police,a resident of Hallo Majra village alleged that at around 6.30 pm on Sunday,three minors robbed him of his cycle,his purse containing cash of Rs 3,000 and some documents near Railway Lines,Makhan Majra. One of the minors was nabbed on the spot,while the other two were caught with the help of the minor nabbed first,police said. The three accused,aged 13,17,17,were sent to Juvenile Home by the police.

MCM DAV celebrates upgraded status

Chandigarh: MCM DAV College for Women,Sector 36 has been upgraded to Post Graduate level,through a communication received from the university Grants Commission,New Delhi and now the institute shall now be known as MCM DAV Post-Graduate College for Women.

Man found dead in Kalka

PANCHKULA: A person,Girgesh Kumar, died under mysterious circumstances with the police recovering his body from Kalka early on Monday. His body was lying near a wine shop at Mill Chungi road in Kalka. Police said there were no fatal injuries on the body. The body has been sent to Kalka hospital for post-mortem. Police said they have started investigating the case under Section 174 of the CrPC. Police said that it appears that the man died due to cardiac arrest.

Watchman arrested for eve-teasing tenant

CHANDIGARH: A 52-year-old man was arrested by the Chandigarh Police on Sunday after he allegedly eveteased a tenant,whose house he was guarding at Sector 18. Shiv Shankar,the watchman,also tried to stab the victim’s husband,but was overpowered by the husband who was accompanied by his brother and driver. A case under IPC sections have been registered against the accused.
