City briefs: Four JAC teachers arrested,granted bail

The four conveners and the co- conveners of the Joint Action Committee (JAC),against whom the DPI(s) lodged a FIR,three weeks ago,were arrested on Saturday by the Sector 19 police

CHANDIGARH: The four conveners and the co- conveners of the Joint Action Committee (JAC),against whom the DPI(s) lodged a FIR,three weeks ago,were arrested on Saturday by the Sector 19 police. The four teachers namely,Swarn Singh Kamboj,Shwinder Singh,Khushali Ram and Ravinder Singh Rana were arrested on the grounds of allegations that they didnt allow the teachers to attend the Faculty Development programme. The teachers were released on bail later.

Bhavan students win laurels in sports

CHANDIGARH: Bhavan Vidyalaya School Sector 27 won a number of medals in the just concluded UT Inter School Fencing and Taekwando tournaments. Shreya Singh of VI D won the Gold medal in 25kg category in Taekwondo tournament. In addition,the Boys Fencing Team of the school won the overall third position in under 17 years age category. Bhavya Vasishta of IX A won two Bronze medals in Saber & Foil events. Sahil Garg of class XII won a Bronze in Epee event (U-19yrs) Also,Bhavya Vasishta has been selected for the SGFI Games this year. Kartik Malhotra VIIIC won Gold in doubles team event in 8th District Badminton championship held at Panchkula and Aneesh Kumar of VIII A won the Bronze medal at the Chandigarh State Sub. Jr. Judo championship in (U-14yrs).
