High drama was witnessed at the office of the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) when scores of residents of Sector 45,raised a protest regarding issuing of wrong notices to them. The residents raised slogans against the officials and pressed for their demands. The residents barged into the office of CHB secretary M M Sabharwal following which he called the police. The residents claimed that these notices were wrongly sent to them as most of the changes they had made were not violations and were within the permissible limits. Subhash Chander Khanna,Sector 45 A,said,The CHB sent a notice to me for violation that the balcony on the second floor. Its been for 10 years that i stay in my present house but I have never been issued a notice. Its a wrongful notice in every way, he said. Another aggrieved party,Advocate R S Khural said notice stated that as alleged in the notice sent to him on encroachment at the government land,he has not encroached the land and his car garage is within 70 feet in length as per the approved drawing sent along with the allotment letter issued by the board and thus there is no violation. The residents also alleged that the wrong notices have been allegedly sent on the behest of an XEN (executive engineer) of the Board residing in the same area who himself has done blatant violations in his house. When contacted Secretary,CHB,M M Sabharwal refuted the allegations and said they are already examining the case.
