Chandigarh records 20 new Covid cases, Panchkula 24

As part of the Covid preparedness meeting held recently, it has been decided to test the patients visiting emergency department, CH-22, 45, Manimajra and GMSH-16 for Covid-19.

Chandigarh Sunday recorded 20 new cases, with the active cases now 110, with 10 male and 10 female and the total positivity rate being 5.06 per cent, and six people hospitalised in PGI, two in GMSCH-32 and one in Civil Hospital, Sector 45.

“As before, we are testing symptomatic cases at PGI. Please mask up, maintain social distance in crowded places, and get a booster, if you haven’t yet,” said Prof Vivek Lal, director, PGI.

As part of the Covid preparedness meeting held recently, it has been decided to test the patients visiting emergency department, CH-22, 45, Manimajra and GMSH-16 for Covid-19.

It has also been decided that all RT-PCR samples should be tested for H1N1/H3N2 to assess the status of patients in case of mixed infection. According to Dr Suman Singh, Director Health Services, samples are being sent for genome sequencing and so far,  Covid-19 Omicron subvariant is at play.

Panchkula Sunday recorded 24 new Covid cases. According to Dr Mankeerat Murara, nodal officer, Civil Surgeon, Panchkula, they apprehended a rise in cases when there was an increase in cases in Delhi and Gurugram, and with so many people travelling, Panchkula is also seeing a rise in cases.

“We have sent our samples for genome sequencing. As we are seeing, transmission is fast. Our patients are recovering in home isolation. The recovery is within two or three days. Symptoms are fever and sore throat. The elderly are most vulnerable but are recovering fast in about seven days. Sampling and testing have been increased. From April 3, all symptomatic patients will be tested in dispensaries, primary and community health centres and we urge people to be cooperative,” said .

Medical Superintendent, GMSH-16, will call a meeting with GMCH-32 and PGI authorities to set a protocol for preparedness, isolation and coordination for shifting of Covid cases.
