Chandigarh: Owner booked as his pet dog bites 43-yr-old

The owner of a German Shepherd has been booked after his pet dog allegedly attacked a 43-year-old man.

The incident happened in Sector 43, Chandigarh, on September 22 but the FIR was registered on Friday, police said.

The victim, identified as Ashish Sharma, a resident of Sector 43, suffered injuries to his right knee and was rushed to GMSH-16 for treatment for a dog bite. His condition is now stable.

According to the complaint, Ashish was returning from the High Court and had just parked his car near his residence around 6.15 pm on September 22, when the dog suddenly pounced on him. The dog, which was being walked without a leash or muzzle, bit him.

As per the complaint, the dog’s owner, Saroj, a resident of Sector 43, was present but allegedly walked away without helping the victim.

Ashish has alleged that the pet dog owner allowed the dog to bite him near his house. Following Ashish’s written complaint, an FIR under Section 291 of the BNS was registered at Sector 36 Police Station against the dog’s owner.
