Chandigarh’s Mental Health Institute gets bomb threat via email, patients shifted
The police, Chandigarh Fire Services personnel, the bomb disposal squad and a dog squad have reached the Mental Health Institute in Chandigarh’s Sector 32 and are investigating the threat.

The Mental Health Institute (MHI) in Chandigarh’s Sector 32 received a bomb threat via email on Wednesday morning, following which several patients were shifted to another wing.
“A bomb has been placed inside the Mental Health Institute and it is set to detonate soon, and everyone will die,” an email sent by a user named ‘Adam Lanza’ from ‘necronecro93@gmail.com’ said. The email also says that the group ‘Terrorizers111’ is behind the act.
The threat came on a day when multiple museums in Delhi, including the National Rail Museum, received bomb threat emails on Wednesday.
Chandigarh Deputy Superintendent of Police South Dalbir Singh confirmed the threat and said that the mail was sent to the hospital’s official email ID at around 9.40 am.
The police, Chandigarh Fire Services personnel, the bomb disposal squad and a dog squad have reached the institute and are investigating the threat, officials said. The police have cordoned off the area and the bomb squad has initiated a search.
MHI Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr Aprajita Lovana said the threat was received at about 9.45 am after which around 15 patients and students were evacuated to another wing.
Chandigarh Senior Superintendent of Police Kanwardeep Kaur said that the mail was sent through a Gmail ID. The person who sent the mail has reportedly sent similar threat emails across the country earlier.
Prima facie, it appears to be a hoax mail, the police said.
