Booked under BNS sections 308(3) and 351(3), Bector is in four-day police custody as the probe expands to his associates.The Punjab Police has arrested Chandigarh Club executive member Vikas Bector in Mohali on charges of extortion and criminal intimidation. Following a case registered at Mullanpur police station under sections 308(3) and 351(3) of the BNS, Bector has been placed in police custody for questioning.
Police sources stated that Bector, along with his associates, allegedly tried to extort money from Chandigarh-based lawyer Gaurav Dhir. The complainant accused Bector of using weapons to threaten and coerce him into handing over money. During the investigation, Bector’s associates, Raman Aggarwal (named in the FIR) and Nitin Goyal, were questioned by the Punjab Police.
Officials indicated that the investigation is ongoing and further arrests may follow as the police probe the larger network connected to the accused. Bector, who claimed close ties with several officials, reportedly has multiple criminal cases pending against him.
Under BNS Section 308(3), extortion involves dishonestly inducing someone to transfer property or valuables by threatening them with harm. Section 351(3) pertains to criminal intimidation, involving threats to life, grievous injury, or property damage. Police confirmed that Bector and his associates used threats and weapons to demand money from the complainant.
IO Pavittar Singh stated, “The accused has been arrested and produced in court, which sent him to four days’ police remand. He will be produced in court again on October 23.”
