Chandigarh recorded a marginal improvement in the pass percentage of 1.7 and 0.67 percentage points for Classes X and XII, respectively, compared to the previous year, as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the results for both classes on Tuesday.
This year, 88.50 per cent of city students cleared Class X exams compared to 86.80 per cent the previous year — an improvement of 1.7 percentage points. Similarly, 90.91 per cent of students cleared Class XII exams this year compared to 90.24 per cent the previous year — an improvement of 0.67 percentage points for.
However, the overall pass percentage in the Chandigarh region — comprising Chandigarh, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh UT — for Class X has declined by 0.69 percentage points , with 94.4 per cent students cleared the exam this year compared to 93.71 per cent last year — maintaining the ninth position nationally, the same as last year. However, the region recorded a marginal improvement of 0.52 percentage points in Class XII results, with 91.09 per cent of students clearing the exam this year compared to 91.61 per cent, securing the seventh position nationally, the same as last year.
Also, 89.47 city girls passed Class X exams compared to 87.59 per cent of boys, taking a lead by 1.88 percentage points. Similarly, 93.05 per cent of city girls cleared Class XII exams compared to 88.95 per cent of boys, leading by 4.1 percentage points.
In the Chandigarh region, too, girls outshone boys by 3.23 percentage points in Class X results, with 95.46 per cent girls clearing the exams compared to 92.23 per cent boys. Similarly, 93.62 per cent of girls cleared Class XII exams in the region compared to 89.78 per cent of boys, leading by 3.84 percentage points.
Girls outperformed boys nationally as well. In Class X, the pass percentage for girls is 95.0 per cent compared to 92.63 per cent boys, leading by 2.37 percentage points. In Class XII, the pass percentage for girls is 91.64 per cent compared by 85.70 per cent boys — taking a lead by 5.94 percentage points.
