Captain’s absence takes sheen of party rally

The Congress rally at Chappar Mela here lost some of its sheen as state party chief Capt Amarinder Singh skipped the meet,however,leader of Opposition in state Assembly Rajinder Kaur Bhattal took on the SAD-BJP combine. Addressing the rally,Bhattal said: “People of Punjab have seen the true face of the SAD-BJP rule and they are now waiting for the Assembly elections. The Congress will uproot this alliance.”

Taking on Chief Minister,Parkash Singh Badal,and his party’s support to the Anna Hazare campaign,she said,“How can the Punjab government support Anna ,when every one knows that this very government and its care takers are steeped in corruption. The funds meant for the poor is utilised elsewhere”. Without letting down the tempo,Bhattal said the Badals have even politicisized the SGPC,which is a religious outfit.
