A day ahead of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) elections, son of Panthic Morcha candidate was attacked and his car damaged allegedly by persons close to the ruling SAD (B) leaders.

Simardeep Singh alias Prince, son of Panthic Mocha candidate Pardeep Singh Walia who is contesting from the Amritsar-West seat against ruling SAD (B) leader Bawa Signh Gumanpura, was also threatened with dire consequences if he came out to vote on Sunday.

“They threatened to kill me and said that I should not come out on Sunday during the polling or I would be shot dead. They said they will also teach my father a lesson,” Prince told the police while filing a complaint. He claimed to have identified two of the attackers as close relatives of Gumanpura and Bibi Kiranjot Kaur, also a ruling SAD (B) candidate.
