Brush with Nature

It’s a tribute to womanhood and nature.

It’s a tribute to womanhood and nature. Blending both the themes seamlessly in her 24 paintings is Kajal Nalwa, who works are on display in the city in an exhibition, titled “Blessings”. In an effort to bring forth her concern for environment and nature, and to draw attention to women’s role in preserving our ecological heritage,Nalwa’s canvases depict women in harmony with nature. “The subject of my work is nature and women, and the inter-relation between the two as ‘givers of life’. As human life gets entangled in worldly affairs, amid this chaos,I seek to pay a tribute to nature and divinity by reasserting the need of a harmonious relationship between human beings and their surroundings,” says Nalwa. She has used the medium of oil on canvas, using the palette knife to create textures. Green fields, flowers and women in deep thought surrounded by nature’s bounty – Nalwa’s latest works are portraits of women in charcoal. “Iconographic interpretation of the divine force inspires me,so do various aspects and expressions of women’s life,’’ says the artist, who is a trained textile designer. The exhibition is on at Virgin Courtyard,Sector 7,today,from 4 pm to 8 pm.
