Drug policy to benefit Punjab
Chandigarh:Punjab Chief Parliamentary Secretary for Health Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu on Friday said the uniform drug policy passed by the Union government would benefit Punjab in breaking the nexus between drug manufacturers,drug inspectors,chemists,medical representatives and doctors. Kaur said the Union Ministry of Health had issued directions to all states on October 12 that licenses to manufacture and distribute drugs be given and renewed only if the company manufactured or distributed a drug in its generic or proper name.
2 centres for veggies to come up in Punjab
Chandigarh:The Punjab government has decided to set up two Centres of Excellence for Vegetables and Citrus in collaboration with Israel by March 2013. Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal,who met Ambassador of Israel Alon Ushpiz on Thursday,said one centre will be set up at Kartarpur in Jalandhar for Rs 9.73 crore,while another will be set up at Khanaura in Hoshiarpur for Rs 10.39 crore.
Morcha gives call for opposition meet
Chandigarh:Citing rapidly deteriorating law and order situation in the state,the Sanjha Morcha has called for an all party meeting on November 20. Sanjha Morcha chief Manpreet Badal said,Punjab is staring down the barrel. Law and order situation is miserable,and the callous attitude of law enforcement agencies has made the life of common man insecure.
7 bodies recovered from Barwala canal
Jind:Seven bodies were recovered from Barwala link canal on Friday. Locals detected the bodies in the canal as the water-level had receded,police said. Probe is on to ascertain the identity of the deceased and also to determine the cause of the deaths.
