MP calls for opening India-Afghan land route

CHANDIGARH: Gurdaspur MP Partap Singh Bajwa on Friday requested the Union minister of commerce to take up the issue of opening an India-Afganistan land route with Pakistan. Speaking during the Zero Hour in the Parliament,Bajwa said that such a step would go a long way in boosting the Indo-Pak trade via Wagah Border.

Bajwa may quit PPP,to rejoin SAD

HOSHIARPUR: Former Rajya Sabha MP Varinder Singh Bajwa,who quit SAD (Badal) and joined the People’s Party of Punjab in February this year,may very soon return to the parent party. Sources in SAD said that Bajwa met chief minister PS Badal and deputy CM Sukhbir Badal in Chandigarh recently and assured them of returning to SAD.

Justify haste behind Mansa power plant: MLA

CHANDIGARH: Qila Raipur MLA Jassi Khangura on Friday asked Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to justify the setting up of the Mansa power plant. “Badals have failed to justify why they are pushing so aggressively for the acquisition of the Mansa land for Indiabulls,” Kahngura said.

SC refuses to intervene in PPSC chief case

CHANDIGARH: IN yet another blow to the Punjab government,the Supreme Court on Friday refused to intervene in the matter pertaining to appointment of Harish Rai Dhanda as the new Chairman of Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC). The apex court,however,asked the High Court to decide the matter and pass a judgement.

Boy rescued from travel agent’s captivity

NAWANSHAHR: A boy ,who was reportedly sent to Georgia 10 months ago,was recovered from the captivity of a travel agent in Chandigarh. The agent,Sukhwinder — a resident of Chak Ramu village — has been arrested and booked in a fraud case.
