40 lakh MT covered storage space by 2011-12,claims FCI
CHANDIGARH: As many as 40 lakh metric tonnes of additional covered storage space will be created by the year 2011-12,the Food Corporation of India (FCI) stated in a press statement. Capacity of 52 lakh MT has been sanctioned to private investors,besides 20 lakh MT to state and central warehousing corporation, it added.
MP calls for opening India-Afghan land route
CHANDIGARH: Gurdaspur MP Partap Singh Bajwa on Friday requested the Union minister of commerce to take up the issue of opening an India-Afganistan land route with Pakistan. Speaking during the Zero Hour in the Parliament,Bajwa said that such a step would go a long way in boosting the Indo-Pak trade via Wagah Border.
Bajwa may quit PPP,to rejoin SAD
HOSHIARPUR: Former Rajya Sabha MP Varinder Singh Bajwa,who quit SAD (Badal) and joined the Peoples Party of Punjab in February this year,may very soon return to the parent party. Sources in SAD said that Bajwa met chief minister PS Badal and deputy CM Sukhbir Badal in Chandigarh recently and assured them of returning to SAD.

SC refuses to intervene in PPSC chief case
