BJP delegation meets UT advisor to oppose anti-encroachment drives

A delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party led by party president Sanjay Tandon met Advisor to Administrator K K Sharma,Raghubir Lal Arora,Heera Negi,Satinder Singh,Shakti Prakash Devshali,Ravinder Pathania and Anil Dubey,and submitted a memorandum on Tuesday.

A delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party led by party president Sanjay Tandon met Advisor to Administrator K K Sharma,Raghubir Lal Arora,Heera Negi,Satinder Singh,Shakti Prakash Devshali,Ravinder Pathania and Anil Dubey,and submitted a memorandum on Tuesday.

The delegation brought to the notice of Advisor that on January 31,UT Administration officials demolished many houses and jhuggis in Pocket No 8,Indira Colony,Manimajra. “These people have been residing there for over two decades. The houses were demolished without providing them an alternate accommodation. The Administration should rehabilitate these people on humanitarian grounds,” BJP leaders said.

The delegation also spoke to the Advisor regarding the recent joining of the chairman and director of the market committee,as it is being suspected the officials of the Chandigarh Administration were functioning under the influence of Congress leaders.

Tandon said that the Municipal Corporation had spent around Rs 25 lakh on day market,but the work was stalled by the Congress-led Municipal Corporation. “The work of the day market should be completed at the earliest in order to save the MC of financial losses,” stated the delegation.

Sharma assured the delegation that he would look into the matter.

Panchayat officer caught accepting ‘bribe’ by VB

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Tuesday nabbed a panchayat officer while accepting an alleged bribe of Rs 10,000. Suresh Arora,Chief Director-cum-DGP of Vigilance Bureau,Punjab,said the Bureau caught Shishpal Singh,who is posted at Kharar block,Ajitgarh,accepting a bribe from the complainant,Baljinder Singh Sarpanch of Popna village,Kharar block.

He added that the complainant approached the Bureau and alleged that Shishpal was demanding a bribe regarding a complaint against him pertaining to the auction of the village pond. “A vigilance team from Vigilance Bureau Flying Squad-2 laid a trap and the accused was nabbed in the presence of two government officials,” Arora said. A case has been registered against Shishpal.
