Bhukkal seeks loan waiver for SCs,backward

Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Geeta Bhukkal has urged the Centre to waive loans of members of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes taken from the Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation,as waived for farmers who suffered losses due to natural calamities.

Bhukkal was speaking at a two-day conference of Welfare and Social Justice and Empowerment Ministers of various states organised under the chairmanship of Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Mukul Wasnik at New Delhi today. The conference was inaugurated by the Prime Minster.

Bhukkal suggested that the time period for repayment of loans taken by the state corporations from the national Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation should be increased to eight years from the present five years.
