Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday conducted surprise inspections at the newly constructed Cheema Sub-Tehsil Complex in Sangrur’s Cheema and Sardulgarh Tehsil Complex in Mansa, to ensure smooth delivery of citizen-centric services at grassroots level.

During his visit at the Cheema complex, Mann interacted with the people, who responded with lauding his government for focusing on improving the service delivery.

Emphasising that the inspections were only to enhance efficiency, Mann said: “The people of the state are witnessing, for the first time, that a chief minister is visiting government offices to ensure effective service delivery.”

“The state’s top priority is to resolve people’s daily administrative tasks, without any hassle,” the CM said, while directing government officials to perform their duties diligently and ensure that the citizens do not face unnecessary delay in services.

Reviewing the upcoming mela in memory of Sant Baba Attar Singh, the CM also directed the officials to make foolproof arrangements for the pilgrims, while assuring that he would monitor the preparations personally.

In Mansa, Mann directed the officials concerned to streamline operations, ensure prompt public services, and install high-speed Internet there.

Reiterating the Punjab government’s focus on health, education, power, employment, and infrastructure, Mann said that “efforts are being made to rejuvenate the development of the state, which was neglected by the previous administrations”.

“Due to our efforts, Punjab schools are being renovated, new roads are constructed, youths are hired for government jobs — overall development is visible in every sector,” the CM said, while announcing that a regular tehsildar will soon be appointed at the Sardulgarh complex. He also directed the installation of high-speed Internet to improve office efficiency.

During his visit to an under-construction 20-bedded hospital in the region, Mann said that the project — scheduled to be completed by June 30 — will serve as a key healthcare facility.

Support to US deportees

On the recent deportation of Punjabis from the US, Mann said that the state government supports those affected and will provide them rehabilitation. “We will provide opportunities for them to rebuild their lives, with guidance from young entrepreneurs who have overcome similar hardships,” he said.

Three US military planes (C-17 Globemaster) landed in Amritsar this month so far, deporting Indians as part of the Trump administration’s promised crackdown on illegal migration, with the latest one on Sunday night. The deportees have alleged that despite paying huge amounts to travel agents, they were made to travel to the US illegally, without their knowledge. They now seek strict action against the agents.
