Chandigarh: Riding high on Bhagmender’s 40-ball knock of 52 runs,DAV Cricket Academy Sector 8,beat Himachal Cricket Academy Sector 56,in a match played during Vachitar Singh Memorial Cricket League Tournament in Chandigarh on Monday. Batting first,DAV team posted a total of 158 runs for the loss of five wickets in 40 overs. Bhagmender (52) and Mandeep (30) were the main architects of the DAV team. For the Himachal team,Babinder scalped three wickets. In reply,Himachal Academy team was bowled out for 117 runs in 34 overs. Tableen and Piyush grabbed three wickets each for the winning team.

Hockey meet from tomorrow

Mohali: The 26th Dashmesh Hawks All India Hockey Festival will be held at Hawks Stadium,Ropar,from March 6 to 10. A total of 12 teams from all over the country including Punjab Police,BSF,Signals,EME,Sikh Regiment Centre,Ramgarh,ITBP,Powercom,Rock Rovers Chandigarh,Punjab and Sind Bank Academy,Jalandhar,Sports Hostel Lucknow,Sports Authority of India,Bhopal,would participate in the five-day tournament.The winning team would receive a cash prize of Rs. 51,000 besides the winning trophy while runner up would get a cash prize Rs 31,000.
