Congress leader Nimisha Mehta will lead a delegation, which will include the kin of the victims of October 2015 Behbal Kalan firing, from Garhshankar town to Golden Temple, demanding installation of the pictures of those killed, in Central Sikh Museum.

Congress leader Mehta confirmed that soon she would take the delegation, which would include people from all communities, along with the kin of the victims to the Golden Temple and handover the pictures of these victims to Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Amritsar. “I have also visited the families of the victims — Krishan Bhagwan Singh and Gurjeet Singh — at their villages, Niamiwala and Sarawaan, respectively. The two Sikh men had sacrificed their lives demanding justice for Shri Guru Granth Sahib and hence both of them should be declared martyrs of the Sikh community and their pictures should be installed at the central museum, Darbar Sahib Complex,” she said.

Mehta added the Badals and the BJP should refrain from their divisive politics of terrorising Hindus time and again by giving statements that the Behbal Kalan agitations and morcha would lead to disturbance of communal harmony in the state. “Hindus are very much with the victims and will fight till justice is not delivered to the victims’ families and culprits of desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib are not nabbed. Badals should stop portraying Hindus as villains. It’s just because Badals have been exposed in the entire chapter that they are now trying tricks to mislead Punjabis,” Mehta alleged. She also said the SGPC should have already installed the photos.
