Taking a serious view of a recent incident of “bullying and assault”,Bishop Cotton School Headmaster Roy Christopher Robinson today suspended two students, including a class XII student Rahul Kumar,on charges of gross indiscipline and misbehaviour with junior boys.

The bullying had forced two students, including a newly-admitted student of Class IX,to leave the school. The juniors were allegedly beaten and harassed by the seniors early this week.

One of the victims,Akashdeep,is the son of Kuldeep Taruna,an NRI settled in the UK. “This is not a case of ragging alone, but worse than that,” Taruna alleged. He said that the senior boys used to wake him up in the night,or did not allow him to use the toilet. “I was shocked when he wrote me about this in an e-mail. I also brought the issue to the headmasters’ notice through an e-mail,but no action was taken,” Taruna alleged.

The headmaster, when contacted, confirmed that some senior boys had bullied and slapping some juniors. “I am waiting for the report of all House Masters before taking a decision in the matter,” he said.

“Two senior boys have been suspended for bullying the juniors. They have been told to come with their parents after their suspension period is over on June 14,” Robinson said.

Surjit Singh, father of another boy Avtar Singh of Class IX,alleged that he had to pull out his son from the school because he was subjected to physical and mental torture by the seniors.
