Back in Time

Monga,who is originally from Ferozpur,describes how his song Chandigarh chaska was inspired by his friends back home,and how their personalities transformed once they shifted to Chandigarh. “I felt they became more city slickers and boring and dull after shifting base to Chandigargh. In Ferozpur,they were more active and energetic. My song basically brings out that aspect and the fact that small towns are not that bad and once children move to big cities,one should keep a check on them,” says Monga. The album also contains a soothing instrumental track. Presented by Example Entertainment,the tracks range from soft romantic songs to peppy numbers to melancholic ones.

A lawyer by qualification,Monga shares how he attained the law degree for his father. “An education was a must,and I did that. Then I pursued my real passion,music,” says Monga,who practiced music on his own for about 12 years,and then took two years training from his school teacher,Rachna.

All That Bling

The festive season gives enough reason for designers to showcase their latest collections. Given the response she received from Punjab,this week saw jewellery designer Queenie Singh rolling out her trunk show at the Satya Paul store in Sector 17,Chandigarh.

Aimed at the bride to be,the collection boasts of jewellery with heavy diamond choker sets as well as kundan pieces. There’s also a noticeable use of colour this season by the designer by way of precious stones in the collection with emeralds and rubies.
