AroundTown: Gang of women rob elderly

Vimla Dvi,an elderly resident of Anaj Mandi Naraingarh,was robbed of her gold ornaments by a car-borne gang of women at Maheshnagar,Ambala Cantt.

AMBALA: Vimla Devi,an elderly resident of Anaj Mandi Naraingarh,was robbed of her gold ornaments by a car-borne gang of women at Maheshnagar,Ambala Cantt,on Friday. Vimla was waiting at a bus shelter when a car with three women stopped near her and offered her a lift. Near Tangri river bridge Vimla was pushed out of the vehicle after being relieved of her two gold bangles and other ornaments worth Rs 1 lakh. A case has been registered and police are searching for the car.

No power at RLA for second day

CHANDIGARH: Harassment for hundreds of applicants at the Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA) continued for second consecutive day on Friday for most part of the day as the power supply to the computers played hide-and-seek all day much to the inconvenience of the public. The applicants staged a protest and raised slogans against the authorities for not making any alternative arrangement to ensure that the computers do not shut down at the RLA. Sources say that at about 9 am when the public counters for licenses and registration certificates opened,there was no supply in the computers. Till about 10.30 am,the public kept waiting in the office only to be told that there was no power supply to run the computers.
