Chandigarh: Chaudhery Surajmal,95,father of DSP (Central) Jagbir Singh,passed away on Tuesday night following a prolonged illness. He was admitted to the Sector-16 hospital where he breathed his last. He was cremated today in the Sector-25 cremation ground.

UILS students get silver in moot court competition

Chandigarh: UILS students Pallavi Pahwa,Raashi Ahluwalia and Puneet Nagpal have made Panjab University proud by being adjudged the second best team at the Seventh Nani Palkhivala National Tax Law Moot Court competition organised by the Government Law College,Mumbai,in association with Income Tax Appellate Tribunal Bar,Mumbai,from October 7 to 9. UILS Director Sangeeta Bhalla disclosed at a press conference here today that for the first time in the history of Panjab University,the students of law had brought laurels to the University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS) by winning prestigious positions in five national level moot court competitions as well as in the Law Fest within first one week.

Foundation stone of herbal park laid at Raipur Khurd school

Chandigarh: The foundation stone of “Vaibhav Herbal Park” was laid at Government Senior Secondary School,Raipur Khurd,Chandigarh,by P K Sharma,Director Public Instruction (Schools). Santosh Kumar,Conservator of Forests,was among the special invitees. The school itself acting as the cluster head of the region for Eco Club also invited its cluster members to participate in this inaugural event. Various other school Principals and Heads were also present. Seema,coordinator of the programme provided an overview and description of the proposed Herbal Park including school infrastructure. R K Sharma,school Head thanked all the worthy guests and hoped that the programme would run up to the expectations of the participants.

Seminar on business admn at SD College from Oct 15

Chandigarh: To provide a platform to MBA aspirants,a national seminar ‘MBA Expo- Shake hands with opportunities’ would be organised at GGDSD College,Sector 32,from October 15 to 16.

Seminars on Advertising (by Advertising Guru Prahlad Dabholkar,Amul Butter fame),HR (by HR Expert Sahil Sahore,Delhi),Mass Communication (by Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication,Pune) would be orgainsed. The students can also take free mock aptitude tests like XAT,FMS and SNAP. The highlight of the event would be a special seminar for working people to help them in their professional career progress. The students will also witness business quizzes,group discussion competitions. The participating MBA Colleges are ISB Hyderabad,IMI New Delhi,MICA Ahemdabad,Symbiosis Pune,IIMT Gurgaon,MBS Mumbai,ISBF Delhi,SCMLD Pune,JIMS,ICFAI University,Chitkara University,JK Business School and many more. “It is unlike most of the routine MBA fairs where only stalls are put-up. Here,one gets the answers of individual queries” said Sumit Khanna,Academic Head,EduCorp.
