Cardiac awareness and check-up camp held in Sector 7
More than a hundred people,most of them senior citizens,benefited from a free cardiac awareness and check-up camp organised at Bal Bhawan Creche in their area today. The camp was organised by the Residents Welfare Society of Sector 7,Chandigarh in association with Alchemist Hospital,Sector 21,Panchkula. Dr Anurag Sharma,Senior Interventional Cardiologist from Alchemist Hospital was providing consultation at the camp along with his team of doctors and paramedical staff. He advised people to avoid smoking,exercise regularly,keep their weight in check and find time for themselves from their fast-paced life to keep in good health.
New president elected for Residents Welfare Association,Sector 21
Baljinder Singh Bittu won the elections for the post of president of the Resident Welfare Association,Sector 21. Bittu polled 605 votes against 242 polled by Promila Dass. Bittu will take over from former president of the association P C Sanghi,who held the post for eight years. He would be selecting the members of the executive committee. In the past few months,the meetings of the association witnessed numerous arguments. There were tiffs between Sanghi and nominated councillor Dr A P Sanwaria with allegations flying thick and fast. During the last meeting,scuffles were witnessed and the police had to intervene.
Drug de-addiction camp conducted at Bhaskar Colony
On the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking,Fortis Hospital,Mohali today conducted a Health Camp at the Community Centre,Bhaskar Colony,Chandigarh as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility Outreach programme. Over 150 people attended the Camp in which Dr Simi Waraich,Senior Consultant,Psychiatry at Fortis Hospital Mohali delivered a lecture on the ill effects of substance abuse and drug de-addiction. Free blood sugar and blood pressure tests were conducted as a part of the camp.
