PGI contract workers plan strike on Feb 21
Two days after PGIMER Operation Theatre (OT) Technicians resumed work,the contract workers union have decided to observe a strike on February 21 in protest against the failure of officials to release the salary for the month of January. The union on Tuesday served a notice about the strike to the authorities.

Fire in Panchkula showroom
There was a fire in a plywood showroom (Shop Number 1) at Sector 11 late on Tuesday night. Three fire tenders rushed to the spot. An AC and a makeshift temple were destroyed in the fire.
Man gets a year in jail for taking bribe
The Court of District and Sessions Judge,S K Goel on Tuesday awarded a one-year imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on one Kailash Chander after holding him guilty of accepting a Rs 5,000 bribe. He was then posted as reader in the office of SDM South.
In-service course for librarians begins
33 participants from Kendriya Vidyalayas of Chandigarh,Delhi,Dehradun and the Jammu Region are attending a 21 Day in-service course for librarians at Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan,Zonal Institute of Education and Training,Sector 33,which started on Tuesday.
Brain Bee Quiz held at PGI
A regional Brain Bee Quiz was conducted at the Advanced Eye Centre of the PGI on Tuesday. Twenty students from 10 schools participated in the event organised by the Department of Neurology,PGI,in association with the Indian National Brain Bee,the International Brain Bee and the Society for Neuroscience. Mehak Trehan of Sacred Heart School emerged the winner among 18 candidates,while Bhanu Priya Thakur of Delhi Public School (DPS) and Pooja Bhatia of Vivek High School finished first and second runners-up,respectively. The top two will participate in the Indian National Brain Bee to be held in Chandigarh on April 2 and 3.
86 dogs administered anti-rabies vaccine
In an anti-rabies and de-worming camp held at the civil veterinary hospital in Nayagaon adjoining Chandigarh on Tuesday,86 dogs were vaccinated against rabies.
