Even as the Chandigarh Police has failed to trace Khushpreet,who was kidnapped from Burail about a fortnight ago,another 12-year-old boy has been missing from the same village since Monday afternoon. Abhishek,a student of Government Model High School,Sector 45,was last seen around 2 pm on Monday. The Police,however,did not register any case in this regard till Tuesday afternoon. Abhisheks father Jagdish,who works in a printing press,lodged a formal complaint with the police in the morning but the Sector-34 police registered a missing report only in the afternoon. Sub-Divisional Police Officer (South) DSP Vijay Kumar claims that he was told about the missing child only in the evening. In another development,a man known as Bengali Baba,who lives in the same locality from where Abhishek and Khushpreet are missing,has also not been seen since Monday morning,according to the police. The facts came to light after Khushpreet kidnapping case was transferred to the Crime Branch on Tuesday evening. The Chandigarh Police has now launched a hunt for Abhishek and the Bengali Baba. Though prima facie no link appears between Bengali Baba and Khushpreet,such connections cannot be ruled out. We are still investigating the matter, said an officer.
